Yesterday was strange due to high temperatures from the Santa Ana Winds. We could see four separate fires from our office building and the Poinsettia Fire in Carlsbad was only 2 miles away in the same canyon system. I had to shut down our main computer server due to the power surges coming from damaged power lines. Most of my coworkers left early.
Driving home from work, I took the picture above of the smoke from the San Marcos Fire blowing West over Batiquitos Lagoon.
By this morning, the Poinsettia Fire was pretty contained and I could see the blackened hills as I drove into work on the reopened Palomar Airport Road. After lunch, we could see more two more fires erupt in the distance at Camp Pendleton.
