Letter from Army Basic Training #6

Uncle Dan,

Thanks for your letter. I'm glad you were able to go to my going-away party. Too bad you didn't jet-ski, it was fun. The weather is starting to get cool here. It has been raining all day today.

Yesterday, we finished BRM (Basic Rifle Marksmanship). We had to qualify on the M-16 rifle by shooting a certain number of pop-up targets. I got the Marksman Medal. I'm looking forward to pinning it on my Dress Greens we get Tuesday. Tonight we get to go to a concert and tomorrow we get to go on Pass. We'll be able to eat anything we want.

We're going to learn how to shoot the M-60 machine gun too. We just don't have to qualify with it. We pull guard duty next week. We go out in the middle of nowhere and guard an ammunition dump full of live ammo. It should be pretty interesting.

Well, I got to stop writing now, out of time.
