Letter from Army AIT #1

Hey Dad,

How are you? I am doing fine. I passed my PT Test. I did 48 push-ups, 66 sit-ups and 14:27 on the 2 mile run.

There was a little bit of snow today. You could see it in the air, but it never got to the ground.

I have some bad news. I won't be coming home for Christmas. The Army has cancelled all Leave and Christmas Exoduses because of Iraq. I'll be stuck here for Christmas and I'll be getting my ticket refunded.

I will be graduating a little earlier, January 24th. I finished the Arc Welding C Annex yesterday. Today I started D Annex which is MIG and TIG welding. I have done it before so I hope I am okay at it.

I just got paid so I am sending you 600 dollars in this envelope. Will you put it with the other Traveler's Checks I sent home? Thanks.

Well, I hope you get this letter. I miss you.

I attended AIT at Aberdeen September-Early December 1993 but I can't remember what company I was in. Learned a great deal at the old welding school. Thanks for this blog!
