Letter from Army Basic Training - 9/2/90

Dear Aunt Melody,

I’m sorry you couldn’t make it to my Going Away Party. It was fun. I am at Fort Dix right now. The plane trip here was pretty exciting, I saw the Grand Canyon and the Great Lakes. It is pretty tough here, but I’m told it gets easier. We have already got our M-16 rifles. We do alot of PT, physical training, yesterday morning we ran 4 miles at 4:30 in the morning. The food is quite good surprisingly. My address here is,

PVT. Noah Unsworth
A Co. 3rd BN 26th INF
Ft. Dix, N.J. 08640-7031

untill Oct. 19 when I leave for Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Make sure you write (3rd plt) in the lower left hand corner of the envelope. Say “Hi” to the rest of family. I have many new friends here. The only thing that bothers me is that if we go to war with Iraq I might have to go to Saudi Arabia. Oh well? I hope you are doing good. I should be home by the middle of March. I will also be home for two weeks during Christmas time.

Love,
NOAH
